First impressions go a long way, but lasting impressions make all the difference. Marvin Seperson, EdD, a professor at Nova Southeastern University, has over forty years of experience in higher education and has participated at various levels in several distance education programs.  As a result, Seperson considers himself to be quite knowledgeable on the topic of higher education. However, Seperson’s recent visit to The Learning House, Inc., a total eLearning solutions company located in Louisville, Kentucky, left him more than impressed with the company’s course content customization and outstanding support services.

“Learning House offers a type of holistic service package that is far beyond my capabilities,” remarked Seperson, who also serves as Chair of the Undergraduate Elementary Education Program at Nova Southeastern University.  “Learning House, without a doubt, has made life online easier.”

Seperson and fellow faculty member, Judy Mesler, visited Learning House in early December in order to finalize the development process for three courses created specifically for Nova Southeastern. To make building high quality online courses easier for colleges and universities of large or small size, Learning House offers each client four (4) options for creating an eCourse. These options allow faculty and staff maximum freedom to customize courses to fit specific requirements, learning objectives, class instruction parameters and evaluation procedures.

Clients and faculty members may choose from any of the following options:

1. Select an online course from the catalog of online courses available from Learning House.
2. Request an online course be created from original content written by a Subject Matter Specialist (SME) paid by Learning House.
3. Request an online course be created from an existing textbook(s) that will be purchased by students.
4. Request an online course be created from original content written by a Subject Matter Specialist (SME) paid by the client.

Learning House has designed each of these selections in order to offer clients several options for creating high quality online courses. In the creation of Seperson’s course, Methods of Teaching Social Studies in the Elementary Classroom, he worked closely with a Content Development Specialist (CDS) at the Learning House to design the layout, structure, and content of each lesson. “Learning House offers established, yet easy-to-understand approaches to building online courses,” remarks Seperson, “and gives me a chance to create what is best for my students.”

After decades of experience in higher education, Seperson is not quick to deem a project a success. “Over the years, I have seen many online ventures and cutting edge technologies come and go,” recalls Seperson. However, his recent visit to Learning House has caused him to look forward to the future with much excitement.”  Learning House has been present each step of the way offering support and excellent service. They have made it possible for me to see the whole process, how it works, and the steps it takes to reach the end goal. As we wrap up these courses, I am extremely happy with the finished product.”
