“This summer eLearnPortal turned one,” said Ian Minderman, Vice President of Technology and Media Services. Minderman helped design the website (www.eLearnPortal.com), which was launched as a component of Learning House’s commitment to eLearning just over a year ago.

“eLearnPortal is an online education directory that promotes the online educational offerings of schools, from courses to degree programs,” Minderman explained. “The success of it has exceeded expectations completely.”

This summer, Learning House, Inc. launched a new Lead Administration System (LAS) for its online education directory of eLearning client programs, www.eLearnPortal.com. The new LAS will better track inquiries from visitors requesting information about online courses and degrees, thereby assisting clients in managing student leads.

“Before eLearnPortal, we only had an online request form that fed into a cumbersome database. That didn’t help our clients,” said Ian Minderman, Vice President of Technology and Media Services. The launch last year of eLearnPortal included Learning House’s first LAS design. “That inquiry form replaced the inadequate prior format and was leaps and bounds better. It met many of the needs of our clients but was always intended to be for the interim.”

Technology has had a great deal of influence over education. Over 1.6 million college students (specifically community college students) enrolled in at least one online course during the fall of 2002 and over one-third of these same students took all of their courses online. With these numbers in place and the continued growth of student population, technology in education has become the solution for many higher education institutions.
