Sharon Edge is an educator with extensive experience in integration of library resources and services into distance learning. She has taught graduate-level information technology courses for schools of library and information science. At the university level, Sharon was a pioneer in the development of library services for international and online distance education degree programs and courses.
Sharon Edge has been active in the Kentucky Library Association (KLA), the State-Assisted Academic Library Council of Kentucky (SAALCK) and the Kentucky Virtual Library (KYVL). Sharon is a past chair of the Academic Section of the Kentucky Library Association and a recipient of the KLA Outstanding Academic Librarian Award. She served as project co-coordinator of the SAALCK-initiated “Kentucky Academic Libraries Networked Resources System” grant funded by the U.S. Office of Education and co-chaired the KYVL Document Delivery Committee. For the Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives (KDLA), Sharon served on the Kentucky Library Network (KLN)/Kentucky Virtual Library (KYVL) Transition Team and on the initial Gates Library Foundation Kentucky Leadership Group. She serves on the Advisory Board of the United States Distance Learning Association (USDLA).
Sharon Edge has had extensive library administrative experience at the University of Kentucky, The Ohio State University, and at the University of Louisville. In 1992, as a Professor at the University Louisville, Sharon initiated one of the nation’s first Distance Learning Library Services (DLLS) programs to ensure that, for accreditation purposes, distance education programs offered library resources and services that were equivalent to those provided for on-campus students.
Sharon Edge provides strategic planning for knowledge management and for the company’s inventory of digital assets. She also conducts research on learning objects, SCORM-compliant eContent, digital asset management systems, learning content management systems and other emerging technologies needed by Learning House, Inc. to fulfill its mission.
Sharon holds an M.S.L.S. from the University of Kentucky.
